Dominic Purcell (AKA Lincoln Burrows) talks to us about the upcoming season of
Prison Break, the injury-inducing stunts, and how Dr. Sarah will sorta return from the "dead."
Is the relationship or dynamic between the brothers going to change on Prison Break this season?I don’t think so. I think the relationship between the brothers has pretty much been set out. Obviously we would like more exploration of their journey, but that’s going to have to be another show, right? Not enough time, you know.Do you ever think you’re ready for the end of Prison Break? We were saying since the first season that it was going to the end. And then after the first season we said we’ll release a second season. And now we’re in the fourth season. The writers keep coming up with these amazing ideas and storylines. And there’s so much invested. And for the Fox network, this is one of their big shows – it’s one of the biggest shows in the world. So it’s important for them to keep this thing rolling. So I wouldn’t be surprised if it kept going. Will your character get a love interest?I don’t know. I mean, I wish. But I don’t think there’s enough time. We’re always killing someone, always running. It’s a very high-paced, action vibe.Do you train for the show?I don’t train specifically for the role. I train because I love to train.
The show has changed so much. Do you ever compare the subsequent seasons to the first season?I don’t think we’re ever going to get back to that iconic, classic first season – how can we? But that’s like any sequel to a movie. As long as there’s an audience, as long as they’re loving the show, that’s what matters. How are you guys shaking things up?We have three new directors coming in. we have an new guy Matthew Rapaport. He’s an amazing actor and guy. Can you tell us if he’s a good guy or a bad guy? He’s an in-between guy. He’s on the fence. I think that’s about it to be perfectly honest.
And Sarah is coming back, right? How is that possible? How do you feel about that? Are we allowed to talk about that? … I mean everyone knows she’s back. How do I feel about it? Well, I mean I’m glad for Sarah. It’s great. She’s a wonderful girl and actress. I think the show needs that romantic vibe. I think people were longing for Michael and Sarah to kind of get it on.
How is it possible though? We thought she was beheaded?Well, we never saw the head. No, no. You never saw the head. You never saw it. You saw me looking in the box and saying “Oh my God,” but we never saw the head. There was a big out-cry from fans when people thought she was killed – do you think that had something to do with her return?I think that may have had something to do with it for sure. I’m not sure. I haven’t spoken to Sarah about all that stuff. What new physical challenges have you faced this year filming Prison Break? Not a whole lot this year. I don’t know. I did my thing. I did stunts, I run, I jump over cars, I fall. [I got] bumps and I had a shoulder injury and hurt my foot badly running down the stairs – its just part of the deal.
